Stressed out summer

001

On Saturday, we went to a Dodger game with my family. Daniel (My 8 year old brother) ordered a cotton candy. Can I just tell you how gross they are? YUCK! Sugar on top of more sugar.

You can just imagine what we ate.

002

Which meant for a healthier meal on Monday. Roasted squash with spices.

003

I roasted the squash at 400 degrees with a little garlic salt, everyday seasoning from Trader Joe's and a spritz of olive oil. It comes out incredibly flavorful. I needed some protein on the side so I had a laughing cow cheddar wedge and some red pepper hummus.

004

And in the crock? French Onion soup. I didn't make it myself, I bought it frozen from Trader Joe's. You just take the frozen soup and throw it in the crock. It's got soup, cheese and croutons already packaged in. It was pretty tasty.

The word crock bothers me. Let's call it a ceramic bowl instead.

There are only 3 days of school left and I haven't had many sub jobs so I'm counting this as summer. It's been stressful already. I need a break! The stress includes; being sicker than heck, waiting to hear about my student teaching placement, car troubles, rent going up and life in general.

Did you guys sign up for Project Foodbuzz? I did even though I'm not entirely sure I'm cut out for it. I love to create recipes and have been neglecting my kitchen for awhile so hopefully this will inspire me a bit. I need it.

Can't help you on the FoodBuzz question, but I love French onion soup and I really, really love Trader Joe's. Do you know the nutrition stats on it? If it's moderately healthy (or tasty enough to be worth a good splurge), I'll put it on my shopping list.

OH I'm craving for a dodger dog right now. It's been a long while since I've been to a game.

Three days left...I know you can do it!! Hang in there just a tiny bit longer.

Dont let the stress get to you, it will all work out. I'm currently freaking out over having to pack and find a new apt. I'm such a picky person and I'd like a weekend summer job to help with bills too. We will overcome!! lol

I've always hated cotton candy - even before I was diabetic its just like eating a spoonful of sugar!

Your brother is so cute though!

I signed up for the FoodBuzz thing - hey, are you watching the Next Food Network Star or the new Jillian show??

I signed up purely for motivation as well! I'm not as popular as some other bloggers we all know and I fear that's what these contests are really based upon.

Hope your summer eventually gets less stressful!

@Notes from the Fatty File: It's about 200 calories with 10 grams of fat and vegetarian. It's on the heavier side for a brothy soup due to the cheese and bread but it's so worth it!
