Good Friday and our summer vacation!

Spring Break has officially begun!

001

Yesterday I used a packet of Jay Robb pina colada whey protein powder to make a tropical smoothie. I figured a tropical smoothie would get me in the mood for our summer vacation.

002

Ingredients:

1 packet Jay Robb Whey Protein (Pina colada)
1 can Dole Pineapple Juice (8oz)
1 frozen banana
8 frozen strawberries
1/2 unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup frozen diced mango

Into the blender until smooth and creamy. This was like soft serve frozen yogurt!

003

And it tasted like...

Paradise. That's right! We're going to spend our one year wedding anniversary in Hawaii! Specifically Kauai!

We're totally stoked. I'm not excited about buying a bathing suit but what else is new?

I just want to lay on the beach, hike, snorkel, drink tropical drinks and spend some quality time with my husband. Have any of you been to Kauai? And trip advice for us?

004

I also made a lasagna without using a recipe for the first time! I was impressed with myself.

It's just no-boil lasagna noodles, TJ's vodka sauce, spinach (3 cups worth!), ricotta, seasonings, mozzarella, chicken meatballs, sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli and parmesan all layered in a pan. I love when my kitchen experiments work out!

Do you have any summer plans yet? How about Spring break plans?

You already know our summer plans. We're going to Las Vegas on Monday for Spring Break. Bouchon, here we come!

I've so been wanting to try that flavor of Jay Robb- best protein in the world :) That is awesome that you guys are going to Kauai!! I went there when I was younger and remember loving every minute of it. The lasagna looks super tasty. We (as you saw) just got back from jamaica, but I think we'll be going back in October or November :)

How fun! My hubby and I went to Kauai in November for our 1 year anniversary! Our recommendations...take a helicopter ride of the island (we used Blue Helicopter tours), drive to Waimea Canyon, and eat some coconut shrimp in Waimea town!

LUCKY GIRL!! I've always wanted to go Hawaii!!

My spring break is this next week, YAY! No plans other lots of spring cleaning, maybe laying out in the backyard trying to get a tan, and getting lots of errands done.

MMMMmmmmm, that lasagna looks tasty!

Nice!!! I'd love to go there one day. I hope you guys have a great time there. Enjoy it as much as possible. :)

I have semi-summer vacation plans. I'll be doing some traveling which I'm super happy about. And shooting a new film. Which I equally happy about. :)

Last time I was in Hawaii I was 10! So, my only advice is "have fun"!!!

I am so jealous of pretty much everything in this post...your spring break, your vacation to Hawaii, your vacation to Vegas!

Can I make an unsolicited restaurant recommendation in Vegas? Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill rocks! Loved it.

I've only been to Honolulu so I can't help you with Kauai! But the restaurants in Honolulu were not impressive so I suggest doing research beforehand so you don't end up at Benihana like we did.

Have a great trip guys!

Hawaii sounds like a blast! I've always wanted to go. My advice would be to avoid Tiki necklaces. I saw one wreak havoc on the Brady family.

Hooray for going to Hawaii!! That sounds like a great time! No vacation plans for us yet, although I may go to Hilton Head in June for my Aunt's 80th birthday :D

Have fun in Vegas - and your lasagna looks perfect!!!!!

I bicycled all over Manhattan today, which made me incredibly happy, but it certainly doesn't compare to Hawaii! So jealous. No big summer plans. I'm going to the Hamptons Memorial Day weekend for the first time since I've lived in NYC (almost six years!). Girls' trip, WATCH OUT!

I went to Kaua'i for my Honeymoon in Feb 2009.
Rent a Jeep....then you can travel the island....
Part of the island is desert....part Rain forest and you'll want to see it all!
Buy your Luau tickets early.....they sell out!

Your smoothies always look so delicious, I want to kidnap you so you can make my smoothies!!!
