Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to make some delicious fondue. At least that's what Andy and I decided this year.

055

Andy bought me this fondue pot for Christmas a few years ago (I think...) and I definitely don't use it as often as I should!

056

We cut up some sourdough rolls, a demi loaf of asiago cheese bread, 1 granny smith apple, 1 golden delicious apple, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower for dipping

058

And made a delicious cheddar/gruyere fondue with hard apple cider. It was fabulous.

060

Dessert was dark chocolate fondue. We had pinapple for dipping!

061

And bananas, leftover apples from the cheese fondue and funfetti cake. The cake wasn't very good. Blech. We ate our fondue while watching Julie & Julia for the first time. We both really enjoyed it.

057

Our set up looks like crap due to bad lighting, ikea coffee tables and a dumb camera operator (me!) but there it is!

Do you like Valentine's Day? I've never really had an opinion on it. Now I just use it as an excuse to drink champagne with cranberry juice all night!

What a great meal! I could take or leave Valentine's Day, but my man and I usually end up celebrating just as an excuse to go out for (or make) an extra special meal & dessert. Booze on the side is nice too :)

I don't have champagne often, so I usually don't think to mix in other juices besides orange. Cranberry sounds awesome!

How romantic! I love fondue, but I think I've only had it once. Andrew tried making us choc. fondue our first year dating, but it wasn't super successful since he didn't have a fondue pot. My favorite part of your set up is the funfetti cake!! Awesome, haha! :)

That sounds like a good VD meal because it involves you which is fun. We like to think of the day as an excuse to have a special meal

i like valentines day, but i always have.
cause when you're single its an excuse to eat candy and drink.

and now that i'm getting married it's still an excuse to eat candy and drink.

i support and and all holidays that involve those things.

I love V'day but it's been a cursed holiday for me since I can remember. I won't get into details but lets just say that I tend to date unromantic men. HA!

My new fellow did a good job though. Can't go wrong with a Sushi dinner date. YEAH.
