saag paneer is my lover

Yesterday I walked 2 miles and ran for 5 minutes. It's not much but after my knee injury, it felt awesome. I didn't experience any pain! I'm going to try walk/running every other day. I'm slowly building up to running another 5k.

I am a little nervous about my plantar fasciitis especially since I start teaching 7th grade tomorrow! I haven't been on my feet all day in awhile. My orthotics come in soon so hopefully that will help. (yeah I'm only 26 years old. What gives?)

Andy and I were in the mood for Indian the other night so we went on Yelp and looked for reviews. To our surprise there was a place relatively close to our apartment. As per usual, we started off with samosas.

Samosas are fried but usually not super greasy. We each had one.

002

With chutneys for dipping.

003

Saag paneer (spinach with paneer cheese) and chicken tikka masala. Oh lord. I am officially obsessed with saag paneer. Especially when I mix it with the tikka masala sauce. Oh man.

004

And garlic naan. So good!

We always order the same thing when we get Indian though. Saag paneer, chicken biryani (rice), chicken tikka masala, samosas and garlic naan. I think I need to branch out. Any suggestions? (We'll pretty much eat anything!)

Don't forget you have until Friday (tomorrow!) to enter our Maranatha giveaway. YUM!

3 Words... Nav Rattan Korma.

It's my favorite- I'm a vegetarian, so it's my go-to North Indian dish.

It's got potatoes, cheese, cauliflower, and usually other veggies mixed in a creamy spicy (and sweet, it's got golden raisins and cashews) sauce. YUM.

As far as Southern Indian Cuisine, I love a good dosa stuffed with Masala potatoes and cheese.

(I want Indian food now!)

Good luck with your 7th graders :)

Hooray for getting back out there! I bet it feels fabulous. Fingers crossed that work doesn't cause major irritation!!! Dinner looks yummy. I've truly only had indian once and it was a bad experience...I need to give it another go!

Bhartha! It's eggplant, onions, and peas in a spiced tomato sauce -- SO good. I eat a lot of okra bhindi masala, too. And chicken jal freji.
We usually go for roti over naan, but man...that garlic naan is tempting me now! Might have to scrap our dinner plans and get Indian instead!

Mango Chicken, Saffron Chicken, Bhanga Bartha (Eggplant), Gajar Halwa (a buttery-carrot pudding with raisins and almonds). There's a great new place that has a lunch buffet by my place! We should meet up for it one day :)

I always go to Yelp for the best reviews. I have had pretty much 90% success rate with it.

Have you ever had southern Indian food? Masala dosa, idlis, sambar, etc.? My dad is from the north so he'll be furious for me saying this, but I actually think I prefer the south's food better. :)

Yay for getting back into running!!

I love eggplant dishes at Indian restaurants. My husband, who's Indian, is really into biryanis and lamb roganjosh. We often get tandoori chicken or shrimp at restaurants, too, because they're less saucy/a bit healthier than some of the other dishes.

If you have an Udipi restaurant near you (they're kind of a chain but not a chain, if that makes sense), check out the South Indian offerings. You can get dosas (big crepes-like things stuffed with potatoes and veggies) and other vegetarian dishes. Yum.

I've actually never been to an Indian restaurant!

But now that you have my chicken tikka masala recipe, now I'll give you my naan recipe - its really easy!

Glad you aren't in pain! And once you get your inserts you'll love it!

Matar Paneer (If you like peas). It's like saag paneer but with little balls of bite!

I LOOOOOOOOVE saag paneer. I've been desperately been trying to find a decent recipe for one. No luck just yet. aside from that I usually like a samosa every once in a while with some tofu curry. :)

I hope your first day went well. :)
