Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome and banana soft serve.

Yep. I went to the sports medicine doctor and finally figured out what's going on in my knees. I suspected patellofemoral pain syndrome a while back after reading about Caitlin's experience with it but wanted to make absolutely sure.

Treatment starts soon with physical therapy and they promised that they'd get me running again! Seriously, you have no idea how happy those words made me. I may not run fast but I sure do love running! I'm also getting custom orthotics for my feet to help with the plantar fasciitis pain. Things are looking up.

We won't mention how old this all makes me feel.

We are super behind in posts due to going back to work, school and a regular schedule. This drives me nuts.

001

I have been making tons of guacamole lately. I am obsessed. I added a 2 lb box of avocados to our CSA list for next Saturday.

002

And I bought some corn and black bean salsa from our local farmer's market. This is the BEST salsa I've ever had. We're planning on buying more from him later today.

003

I made steak tacos to go with the guacamole and salsa. I used a packet of Trader Joe's taco seasoning to give the steak some flavor.

004

Yes, I am holding the plate up in my kitchen....

005

Seriously delicious. I used an organic onion and bell pepper to give it a little bit of veggie power. Next time I might try an all veggie taco.

006

Andy made us margaritas using Trader Joe's margarita mix. Have you tried it yet? It's got decent stats and is so tasty! I love that it's not super sweet.

014

Dessert was banana soft serve. To make this please read Gena's post on banana soft serve I'm telling you this was AMAZING. I added a little vanilla extract and some white chocolate wonderful pb to mine and LOVED IT! I can't believe this was made with frozen bananas!

015

Seriously Gena, you have changed my life. I love dessert but don't need all that dairy. This is such a perfect and cheap replacement!

Has a blogger recipe ever changed your life? Please share!

Glad to hear you're getting some resolution/treatment for your knee!! That guac looks totally delicious. Makes me want to get some mexican tonight. I would say Sarah's granola (suite apple pie) has changed my kitchen for good!

Your guacamole looks sooo good! Mine is always a total fail :( I think that I try to make it before my avacado is ripe enough. What do you put in yours? Hopefully your knee gets better sooner than later :)

Banana soft serve is the best dessert ever - I've made it a bunch of times and I'm still amazed every time it comes out of the food processor. My favorite is just to add a spoon of regular PB =)

I'm so glad you'll be back to running soon!

I have been blog stalking for so long, but fitnessista's breakfast cookies have been life changing!

P.S. I just got a really dirty word verification

You will love the foot inserts - I got them about three years ago - the pain in the back of my foot made it even hard to get out of bed in the morning - talk about feeling old!

Okay, I need to mail you some of my baja fresh salsa. I just made a huge batch and am canning it this weekend. Send me your address and I'll get it out to you next week! bdl319@gmail.com

One of my co-workers actually put some of my salsa in a coffee cup with a handful of chips to dip. He emailed me and said "if its wrong to drink your salsa out of a coffee cup, I don't want to be right!"

Happy Friday!

Lovely Mel- I always put in diced tomatoes, red onion, lime juice, garlic salt, cumin and chili powder!

I love making my own guacamole! Our recipes are pretty different but I'm sure equally tasty. :) I also have PFPS. My mom actually picked up some knee bands for me instead of the knee sleeves with adjustable straps I've been putting off (because of money, of course; I think I already told you this on Twitter, actually, sorry). Anyway, they seem to help. I'm starting to worry about my feet, too. Ruh-roh. My sister has plantar fasciitis, and PT and orthotics helped her a lot. Good luck!

I can relate to your knee issues as well as your love for guacamole. I could eat guac every day 5 times a day. Have you had Chipotle's version? I think it is one of my favorites.

Hope your knee ends up getting better and you do to running again. I so need to go to a doctor for mine but am kind of scared. But then again, I had a running dream last night so maybe that's a sign? Or maybe it was just a crazy dream from too much beer last night?

I didn't know TJ's had margarita mix, I need to pay them a visit soon.

I don't usually follow any blogger's recipes...not to sound like a snot, but I don't even have enough time to make my own list of recipes to make!

HIP HIP HOORAY you can run again! I hope that puts you in a great mood each day! Do you run in the mornings?
