I Should Have a Fan Club

Amanda tells me people want me to post more. I have a feeling Amanda is up to no good and just wants me to post. In any event, here I am. My name is Andy.

Edit by Amanda: Be nice to Andy and tell him to post more! haha

I am extra stressed this week for no real reason. Maybe it is anxiety. We are almost to spring break (we are going to Vegas, which they should rename Food City). And of course, food is comfort. But Amanda and I are trying to be good, working out and eating relatively healthy. We also have the 5K this weekend. Yikes!

Amanda mentioned that the nice folks at Jayrobb sent us a TON of protein powder, bars, and other goodies. So we tried another one last night. Pina Colada!(As I am writing this, Amanda is making a Chocolate Shake. That is called a teaser in the business).

007

This stuff is damn tasty. I won't even say it is tasty for a protein shake, it is just good. We mix it with Almond Milk and various fruit. We have frozen bananas(1 in smoothie), strawberries(6), and peaches(half a large peach) with the Pina Colada mix and a cup of Almond Milk. This makes 2 relatively large smoothies.

Here is the nutrition info. Like I said, we make two smoothies with one pack.

006

Sort of blurtastic, but you get the point. We had these with dinner after a run yesterday. Jay Robb makes the goods.

010

See? THE GOODS!

The main event for dinner was a quesadilla. We had some whole grain tortillas and some fully cooked chicken from Trader Joes. We added shredded pepper jack cheese, Pepper Plant Hot Sauce, and Spicy Black Bean Dip, again from Trader Joes. Put it in the skillet, split it, added a bit of guacamole(from Joes again! See a trend?) and we had magic. The star was the black bean dip from Trader Joes. It was amazingly tasty, spicy, and full of awesome.

Here is our slightly odd, but ever so tasty smoothie and quesadilla dinner.

Edit by Amanda: It was not odd, it was protein-filled and necessary!

009

So my chocolate smoothie is ready. But a thought...how amazing is Trader Joes? I really hate regular grocery stores. Mostly because I hate the club card system. I don't like being tracked, and I realize this is odd because I am currently on the internet seemingly being tracked constantly. But the club cards bother me. I don't have any, refuse to get them, and get dirty looks from cashiers who always swipe someones card for me to use. I should do this more and buy just foul combinations of things.... but I don't. Trader Joes is cheap, friendly, and has great quality everything. I made a friend at our local Joes. He always comments on my band shirt/hoodies. We are sort of BFF now.

So...do you love Joes? Ever been? Any club card irrational fear you want to rant about? I'd love to hear.

You Bar You Shake

The fabulous people at You Bars sent me 3 bars and 3 protein shakes to sample. This company is pretty cool, they allow you to create your own flavors of bars and shakes!

The samples they sent were some "favorites" of other customers. So if making your own flavor stresses you out...this will do for you!

001

They sent me these flavors. I am going to try the Breakfast Bar today or tomorrow depending on my mood. I haven't been wanting bars lately.

002

They sent me these shakes. I tried Blended Bliss this morning.

003

Holy fluffiest shake/smoothie EVER!

"Blended Bliss combines organic strawberries, organic bananas and organic vanilla for a mouth watering shake.Ingredients: Whey Protein, Organic Cane Juice, Organic Strawberries, Organic Bananas, Organic Vanilla." (ganked from the site. BTW)

110 calories and 14 grams of protein. I added in 1/4 cup pom juice, 1 banana, 1 cup strawberries, 5 blackberries, 1/4 cup yogurt and one whole packet of blended bliss. It smells like whey protein to me which usually turns me off but the taste is great. I think I'll use half a packet next time.

Thanks for the samples, Joel! I'll be testing them out this week! :)

To get your own youbar simply type in the code "TwoBoos" and get a 5% discount. I promise you will enjoy the customizing! I am creating my own bar as we speak! I'll offer a giveaway with bars soon!

You give me fever

I am having some serious internet issues today. What a lovely way to burn...So Andy and I have resorted to doing our homework in a local coffee shop. Fun times. I'm thankful for free wifi! Well Andy was grading papers and reading. I'm participating in my online Contemporary English class. It's actually fun! We have chatrooms to help us discuss what stories we are reading. We've read The Vagina Monologues, The Da Vinci Code, Out and Bridget Jone's Diary so far.

Dinner tonight was sun-dried tomato basil grilled chicken and roasted veggie couscous. I added some fresh asparagus to the couscous to bulk it up a bit. I've been wanting to cut meat out of my diet completely but I am having a hard time finding other sources of protein. I aim for 60-70 grams a day. Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I feel like I struggle with eating enough protein! And it seems to really help me lose weight.

004

Salad with the last of my favorite cilantro dressing. Sadface.

002

Chicken and a huge serving of couscous. I am addicted now!

So for now I am cutting back on red meat and pork. I'll stick to chicken and turkey for now. I'm trying to like fish but I just don't. I know I'm weird! What kinds of fish taste the least fishy? I will try those out!

I'm planning on doing Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred in March. Stay tuned for my review! I hope it helps me cut out some of my trouble spots! I plan on doing the video daily.
