Honeymoon in Italy!

I weighed in today and was delighted to see that the scale has gone down another 3 lbs. I've been really focusing on eating more fruits, veggies, whole grains and legumes. I think it's been helping!

What I am worried about is...our honeymoon in Italy. I will want to eat EVERYTHING.

Pizza

pastry in rome Pictures, Images and Photos

Pastries!

Pasta!

oh man, I am sooo going to gain weight in Italy. Any advice on avoiding this while still enjoying myself?

oh and I forgot!!!!

GELATO!!!

(The gelato pictured comes from Mozzicato Bakery in Ct but it looks amazing!)

anyone else doing weight watchers? I'm not new to the program but it has been a few years...their new program seems so much healthier than any other diet program I've tried.

Congrats on the 3 lbs! I have done Weight Watchers several times but that was years ago. I suggest you check out this blog if you haven't already: http://msbitchcakes.blogspot.com/

In Italy, just listen to your body and taste everything you want to but make sure you stop when you are full so you don't overdo it. You will be fine :)

Enjoy your Honeymoon and eat what you want! but just make sure you walk everywhere lol =) I am sure it will balance out. And like Sarah said, listen to your body =)

I used to do WW but switched over to calorie counting about a month ago =)

We actually lost weight when we did our Europe trip on '07! But we walked a TON! Including a day in Florence, where we climbed the hundreds of steps in the bell tower next to the Duomo - well worth it!

Enjoy the trip and the food!

I know when I was in Italy it didn't matter at all what I ate because we literally walked everywhere. I felt it was SO hard in some cities (mainly southern Italy) to find fresh fruits and veggies, so I definitely feasted on carbs and gelato daily. I never looked better and actually lost a couple pounds while I was there. So I say don't worry about anything, have fun, enjoy your honeymoon! Your honeymoon + being in Italy is NOT the time to be concerned with a diet, food, or anything. Live and have fun. :)

Honestly...you should eat everything. You may never get the chance again. You can always lose it later, but you may not be able to go back to Italy.

I would say eat and enjoy, and take lots of photos of each meal you eat! Vacation is not the time to think about diets :), but rather about enjoying yourself and having a blast! I'm sure you'll have fun either way though.

Just happened upon your blog...I was just in Italy for two weeks and feared the same thing! I think the key was always sharing gelato/snacks/pastries, and just going for one course at dinner...I didn't shy away from anything but just tried to watch portion control...this wasn't so much a weight control thing but more a 'i don't want to feel so bloated I can't move' thing....it will be so awesome though - enjoy it!

Honestly- with all the walking you will do in Italy you will probably be able to maintain your weight!

I think I only gained 3lbs in Europe when I went with my faily and I was drinking tonns of beer, eating tons of fries, chocolate and waffles (we were in belgium)

You can still eat EVERYTHING, just don't stuff yourself - taste everything, eat nothing - as Bethenny Frankel would say.

Only eat when you are hungry, and pay attention to your hunger cues, stopping when you are full

hope this helps!!!

great job on the 3lbs!

I actually ran into your blog while doing a google on GNU bars and was intrigued enough to read more..hope you don't mind. My husband and I are americans living in Italy (we live about 45 minutes from Venice). The food in Rome is wonderful, Venice is not renound (sp?) for good food, but you can still make some good choices. Explore as much as you can! Some of the best places to get a taste of local culture (AFFORDABLE!!) are the open air markets and festivals. Every city has a market once a week, and festivals are also frequent. You can try all kinds of local cheeses, wines, fruit and other delicousness. The phrase of the day at the market is always Poso provaro (can i try...). Most vendors are happy to let you sample a little before you buy. I hope you have a wonderful Honeymoon. Italy is truly wondeful and beautiful.
Ciao Ciao
